Zimbabwe’s Ncube among Africa’s Top 25 Finance Leaders

By APA-Harare
Zimbabwe’s Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube has been named among the Top 25 African Finance Leaders for 2025, a prestigious recognition announced by London-based African Leadership Magazine (ALM) on Wednesday.
The annual list honours individuals who have demonstrated excellence and transformative leadership in Africa’s financial services and economic governance sectors.
The selection includes finance ministers, central bank governors and chief executive officers of leading financial institutions who are shaping the continent’s economic landscape through sound fiscal policy, financial inclusion efforts and macroeconomic stability initiatives.
The list highlights their contributions toward boosting investor confidence, expanding digital finance adoption and strengthening institutional frameworks for sustainable development.
Joining Ncube on the list are prominent figures such as African Export-Import Bank president Benedict Okey Oramah; Morocco’s Bank Al-Maghrib governor Abdellatif Jouahri; Zambian Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane; and African Development Bank Group president Akinwumi A. Adesina.
Other recognized leaders include National Bank of Ethiopia governor Mamo Mihretu; South Africa’s FirstRand Limited chief executive Mary Vilakazi; and Ecobank Transnational Inc. group chief executive Jeremy Awori.
“These finance leaders have not only surmounted formidable challenges but are actively shaping a new era of economic growth, transparency, and resilience,” African Leadership Magazine publisher and chief executive Ken Giami said.
He said the honourees are redefining Africa’s financial narrative and positioning the continent as a rising global economic powerhouse.
The selection process for the Top 25 follows a rigorous two-step evaluation, beginning with nominations from global finance experts, followed by a detailed review by ALM’s editorial board.
Candidates were assessed based on their leadership, impact and long-term influence on Africa’s financial stability.
The recognized leaders will be formally celebrated at the African Finance Leadership Forum, scheduled for 22 April at the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.
The event will take place alongside the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund.
