Sikandar Raza to miss Zimbabwe’s Test against Bangladesh

Allrounder Sikandar Raza will not be available for Zimbabwe in their one-off Test against Bangladesh from June 28 in Harare due to his county cricket commitments in England.

Zimbabwe Cricket said Raza “has been granted permission to fulfil his commitment with Worcestershire County Cricket Club for the remainder of the 2026 Vitality Blast campaign.”

The 15-man squad includes 39-year-old legspinner Graeme Cremer, who hasn’t played a Test match since 2017. Fast bowler Richard Ngarava, who replaced Craig Ervine as Test and ODI captain in December, is set to make his captaincy debut in the fixture.

The match against Bangladesh is Zimbabwe’s first Test since their victory by an innings and 73 runs against Afghanistan in Harare in October 2025. Apart from Cremer, there are four players in the squad named on Tuesday that were not part of the squad that played Afghanistan: Innocent Kaia, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wessly Madhevere and Newman Nyamhuri.

Apart from Raza, the players omitted from Zimbabwe’s previous Test squad against Afghanistan are: Tanunurwa Makoni, Nick Welch, Antum Naqvi, Tinotenda Maposa and Wellington Masakadza.

Zimbabwe had toured Bangladesh for a two-Test series in April and May 2025, a series that ended 1-1 after the visitors won the opening fixture.
