I’m not going anywhere – declares beleaguered ZBC boss amid minister fallout claims

UNDER-FIRE Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (CEO) Adelaide Chikunguru has vowed she’s staying put at Pockets Hill amid reports of a rift with new information minister Jenfan Muswere.

Chikunguru was controversially appointed CEO in 2021 by then information minister Monica Mutsvangwa.

According to an audio recording of a meeting between the Board and Ministry officials shared with ZimGazzette, the ZBC board did not interview Chikunguru ahead of her appointment.

Mutsvangwa was moved to the women’s affairs ministry in President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s post-election cabinet reshape, leaving Chikunguru anxious about her position.

Appearing on one of ZBC’s programmes this week, Chikunguru claimed she was being harassed without revealing who was harassing her.

“It’s ongoing harassment; why are you there … leave that post,” she claimed without naming who was pressing her to step down.

She added; “But I’m not going anywhere; if you say I’m failing, then you should prove how and where I’m failing.”
