With the T20I series wrapped up, attention now turns to the ODIs. Due to a wet outfield, the match was played in a reduced 40-over format.

The contest began with the USA Women winning the toss and opting to bowl, sending Zimbabwe’s batters in first. The USA bowlers maintained disciplined lines, restricting Zimbabwe Women to a total of 162 runs. Zimbabwe was also awarded 5 extras, including 3 leg byes and 2 wides.

Zimbabwe’s top scorers were Beloved Biza and Modester Mupachikwa, who made 64 and 35 runs respectively.

They made significant contributions after Loreen Tshuma and Chipo Mugeri were dismissed for ducks. The only notable partnership of the innings came from Biza and Adel Zimunu, who stitched together a 53-run stand.

However, once Biza was dismissed, Zimbabwe lost momentum, and the remaining batters struggled to build meaningful partnerships under sustained pressure from the USA bowling attack. The lower-order batters were also restricted to singles and twos.

Chasing 163, the USA batters displayed excellent technique. They reached the target in 39.1 overs, aided by 16 extras from Zimbabwe. Only five batters were needed.

Chetna Pagydyala led the charge with an impressive 59 runs off 108 balls, her first ODI half-century, while opener Disha Dhingra also played a crucial role, scoring 51 off 73 deliveries.

Mitali Patwardhan was the first wicket to fall, dismissed in the first over, trapped by Adel Zimunu for an 8-ball duck. Zimbabwe’s bowlers struggled to make breakthroughs, with only a few managing to claim wickets while the rest went wicketless.
