ENGLAND: Plymouth Argyle defender Brendan Galloway will have the chance to his two international appearances for Zimbabwe after being selected in a 24-strong squad for a four nations tournament to e held in Malawi later this month.

Galloway has put in some impressive performances for the Pilgrims since returning from a long-term injury at the end of November. He has gone on to make a total of 16 starts and seven substitute appearances and that has led to this call-up by Zimbabwe’s interim head coach Norman Mapeza.

Zimbabwe will take part in a four nations tournament with Kenya, Zambia and the hosts Malawi from March 18 until 26. Harare-born Galloway will join up with the squad after Argyle’s Championship clash against Preston North End at Home Park on Saturday.

This is a designated international break so he will not miss any Argyle games before returning to Home Park in time for their Easter doubleheader away to Norwich City on Friday, March 29 and at home to Bristol City on Easter Monday.

Galloway played twice for Zimbabwe in 2022 World Cup qualifiers in late 2021, but injury issues have so far prevented him from adding to that tally.

He becomes the second Argyle player to be called up for international duty later this month, with striker Ben Waine joining up with New Zealand for the W Cup tournament in the United Arab Emirates.
