Newly promoted Sussex hand ex-Zimbabwe star head coach role

ENGLAND: County Championship cricket side Sussex have handed Grant Flower a head coach role.
The former Zimbabwe star will take charge of the county in the 50-overs Metro Bank One-Day Cup this season.
Flower generally works as batting coach at Hove, a role he previously had with Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Paul Farbrace will step aside to look after younger players during that part of the 2025 campaign.
Head coach Farbrace said: “We know the 50-overs we have used in the last two years as an opportunity to play a lot of our young players.
“We will be doing a similar sort of thing this year but slightly different in that Grant Flower is going to be the head coach in that period.
“It gives him the opportunity to be a head coach and it will give me chance to spend time with the under-18s through that period and make sure we have got a really good handle on the young players we have got coming through.”
Newly-promoted Sussex have targeted a push for the title in the County Championship and are eyeing another Finals Day appearance in the Vitality Blast, with Farbrace in charge for both competitions.
They are currently taking on Surrey at Hove in a two-day pre-season fixture.
