LATEST: UK reviews Zimbabwe sanctions; delists 4 individuals, arms manufacturer

By Political Correspondent
THE United Kingdom has announced a review of its sanctions against Zimbabwe, delisting four individuals and a State-owned arms manufacturer.
In a statement Tuesday, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed the “delisting of sanctions against individuals Owen Ncube, Isaac Moyo, Godwin Matanga, Anselem Sanyatwe, and the entity Zimbabwe Defence Industries (ZDI)”.
The statement added, “The revocations follow a similar move from the European Union in February 2025, when they delisted their last remaining entity (ZDI) whilst renewing their existing Zimbabwe sanctions framework. The US also removed a number of designations in March 2024.”
Ncube is provincial minister for the Midlands province and a close ally of President Emmerson Mnangagwa while Issac Moyo and Godwin Matanga were recently removed as heads of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) and the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).
Sanyatwe was also recently retired from being head of the Zimbabwean army and appointed sports Minister.
