Italian ambassador to Zimbabwe, Giuseppe Giacalone, recently travelled to the Mutoko area to visit the Luisa Guidotti Hospital founded in 1932 by Dominican nuns and now run by Dr. Massimo Migani.
The healthcare facility is part of the All Souls Jesuit Mission and collaborates with the Archdiocese of Harare, local authorities, the Emilia Romagna region, and other Italian and international partners.
The medical centre assists 30,000 people every year, promoting “fair access to healthcare for local and rural communities and effective development programs.”
Next to it stands a church built in 1946 by Italian prisoners of war.

“We should all be proud of the extraordinary work that the hospital and its doctors have been carrying out for decades with commitment, dedication, and passion, helping to strengthen cooperation between Italy and Zimbabwe,” said Ambassador Giacalone.
“The Luisa Guidotti Hospital is a prime example of Italian action in favour of assistance and development cooperation in Africa.
“It is a model of effective health collaboration, offering interesting opportunities for research and development, and is particularly appreciated by the friendly people of Zimbabwe,” concluded the Italian diplomat.
