Zambia, Zimbabwe set to hold energy summit
Zimbabwe and Zambia are set to convene for the energy projects summit from 18th to 21st November, 2024 to address urgent calls for investment in renewable energy sources and grid modernisation.
Energy Expert Johnson Chikwanda emphasised that the summit should focus on showcasing progress on stalled energy projects.
Speaking to ZNBC News in an interview, Dr. Chikwanda said the summit should prioritise addressing inter-connector challenges and explaining progress on implementing various Memoranda of Understanding.
He highlighted the importance of learning from Zimbabwe’s experiences, understanding challenges, and determining the best implementation strategies for Zambia in the net metering initiative.
Dr. Chikwanda said it is important for both countries to share progress on energy transition, solutions, and implementation methods.
The summit will be held under the theme, ‘Powering Zimbabwe and Zambia’s Sustainable Energy Future: Unlocking Opportunities in Renewables, Grid Modernisation and Energy Access.’
