ZAMBIAN and Zimbabwean governments are in discussion to formalise a 24-hour operation of the Victoria Falls Border to ease movements of visitors to tourist facilities in both countries.

Minister of Tourism Rodney Sikumba says people from either side of the border will have easy access to various tourism activities without worrying of the closure of the border.

“We are already in talks with our colleagues in Zimbabwe and in a very few months, this border will be operating 24 hours,” Sikumba said.

The minister was speaking during an engagement meeting with Livingstone-based hospitality industry operators.

“We have done it before during the Tourism Conference in 2023,” he said.

“Whenever we have a carnival, we open the border and [so], why don’t we open it for commerce?”
