US: Tkay Maidza announces Melbourne, Sydney shows next month

Zimbabwean-born, Australian-raised, Los Angeles based rapper, singer and producer, Tkay Maidza will perform two special headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne this November on her Sweet Justice Record Release Tour.
“Excited to come back and play headline shows after all the supports and festivals this year – it’s always so special playing & it feels like a celebration,” Tkay said. She will perform live at Melbourne’s Forum on Thursday 23 November before heading to UNSW Roundhouse in Sydney for a show on Tuesday 28 November.
Tkay’s headline shows commences Monday 16 October from 10am local time before the on sale kicking off Wednesday 18 October at 10am local time. Tickets via “Excited to come back and play headline shows after all the supports and festivals this year – it’s always so special playing and it feels like a celebration.”

Recently announcing her first full-length album since 2016 – Sweet Justice – to be released Friday 3 November (via Dew Process & Universal Music Australia, pre-order here), Tkay has been doubling down and honing in on her craft. Sweet Justice features the singles, Ring-a-Ling, Silent Assassin with Flume and Out Of Luck (feat. Lolo Zouai & Amber Mark)
Following three hugely successful EPs released across three volumes, the Last Year Was Weird trilogy saw Tkay win an ARIA for Best Soul/R&B Release for Vol.3, an ARIA nominated Vol.2 as well as being awarded Needle Drop’s Best EP of the Year in 2020 and Rolling Stone’s Best Record of 2021, with 2018’s Vol.1 establishing her as one of the most exciting voices in the new guard of hip-hop.
Tkay’s most recent collaboration with fellow Aussie Flume, Silent Assassin saw the pair nominated at this year’s ARIAs for Best Hip-Hop/Rap Release. Adding to her impressive list of accolades across her music career, the singer & rapper was also nominated for Best Hip Hop Act at the 2023 Live Music Awards.
Hitting the stage at this year’s Spilt Milk festival, Tkay is no stranger to festival stages, having performed at Splendour in the Grass, Laneway, Groovin The Moo, Falls and Meredith here in Australia as well as a full year of touring the world in 2023 with shows across Europe, UK & US the singer is a true professional, with ArtsHub claiming “it is rare to see someone so comfortable blending genres and so proficient at so many. Ultimately, the proof of her quality as a performer is that the crowd is utterly beholden to her throughout the show.”
Returning to Australia in 2022 as part of the RISING Festival in Melbourne, these were Tkay’s first Australian performances in four years. Now, in 2023, she’s returning once again with fresh new music and an incredible live set that will leave fans in awe of her growth as an artist and musician from the days of 2015 hit M.O.B. to most recent single WUACV.
Tkay recently made her debut in triple j’s Like A Version studio, covering SZA’s Kill Bill and perform their latest single Ring-a-Ling.
