UK: School football team in Zimbabwe receives kit from Ipswich
By Ipswich Star
ENGLAND: A young football team in Zimbabwe has received a generous donation of kit and equipment from Witnesham Wasps, based near Ipswich.
The under-14 team was able to buy a new kit thanks to a UK Power Networks Team Sport Award.
This allowed them to donate the old apparel and equipment to Kariba Heights Primary School in Zimbabwe.
The donation was organised by Norbert Nyandebvu, an engineer at UK Power Networks and father of the Witnesham Wasps captain.
He delivered the items to the school.
Nyandebvu said: “It was amazing the reaction we got from the kids when they were presented with this donation.”
His son, Tyrell, said: “We are proud to have made this donation to a well-deserved cause.
“My dad was the inspiration behind this idea and I’m honoured to have played a part in it.”
The UK Power Networks Team Sport Award has supported hundreds of community and sports groups since its inception.
In 2024, teams from various sports received awards totalling £36,600, providing support during the current cost of living crisis.
