SOCTLAND: A BANKING graduate has appeared in court charged with murder following the death of a ‘much-loved’ mum.

Kasikai Chinyanga was arrested in connection with the death of Chitsidzo (Veronica) Chinyanga, from Zimbabwe.

She died in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary following an alleged disturbance at a house in Broxburn, West Lothian on Sunday evening.

Police said they were called to reports of a disturbance at a property on Cunnighar Road, Broxburn, at around 7.55pm.

The 46-year-old, of Newton, West Lothian, appeared on petition at Livingston Sheriff Court on Tuesday charged with murder.

He made no plea and the case against him was continued for further inquiries.

Sheriff Susan Craig remanded Chinyanga in custody.

He is due to make a second appearance in court for full committal within the next eight days.

The accused, who was a student at the University of Zimbabwe in Harare and Edinburgh Napier University, graduated with a BA (Hons) in Accounting with Corporate Finance.

He describes himself on LinkedIn as a corporate finance graduate with a keen interest in investment management, corporate finance and banking.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe has been launched following the death of the 42-year-old, affectionately known as Vee, who leaves behind two young children.

Fundraiser organiser, Ottilia Mthimkhulu, has appealed for donations to help give Vee’s loved ones in Zimbabwe and her children the chance to pay their respects and give her a “dignified” send off.

The family said they are in “shock and deep sorrow” following Veronica’s death, describing her as “a beacon of joy and positivity, always radiating warmth and kindness to everyone she encountered”.

They added: “Her infectious laughter and boundless love for people touched the lives of many. The goal we have is to give Vee and her family in Zimbabwe the chance to pay their respects and say their final goodbye until we meet again.

“Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference in helping us bring her loved ones.

“Your generosity will provide solace to our grieving hearts and ensure that Vic’s legacy continues to shine brightly.

“Together, we can ease the burden on Vic’s family especially her young children, who are utterly heart-broken at this great loss and give her the dignified farewell she deserves.”

A goal of £7,000 has been set with over £,6000 raised by Tuesday from 100 donations made so far.
