CHORLEY FC have announced the signing of former Barrow AFC forward David Moyo.

The 28-year-old striker, who left the Bluebirds following the expiry of his contract this summer, joins the National League North side as a free agent on a deal that runs until the end of the 2023/24 season.

The Zimbabwean striker made 19 appearances for the Bluebirds after moving to the South Cumbria side in August 2022 from Scottish Championship side Hamilton Academical.

Moyo spent the second half of the 22/23 campaign on loan at Barnet FC.

The former Bluebirds’ new manager Andy Preece, speaking on the Chorley FC website after his arrival, said: “David was with us on trial five years ago in pre-season before signing for Hamilton Academical.

“We are aware of his qualities even from the 90 minutes he played that day.

“He has had a successful spell in the Scottish Championship and in the Scottish Premier League and has represented his country, Zimbabwe.

“David is one of those players that can slip through the net unnoticed and we were in a place to swoop when things changed for him.

“After speaking to him he has that hunger to play at the highest level possible.

“I’ve no doubt he will become a fan favourite.”

Moyo also links up with former Bluebirds’ defender Mark Ellis who also joined Chorley FC following his Barrow release at the end of the last campaign.
