A FORMER international cricketer scooped a new Volkswagen campervan worth £75,000 in an online car competition.
Sean Ervine, who won nearly 50 caps for Zimbabwe and now coaches Hampshire, received a video call from BOTB presenter Christian Williams from a cricket club in London to surprise him with the news he’d won the five-figure ‘Easy Win Competition’ prize.
Mr Ervine, who joined Hampshire Cricket in 2005, said: “I’ve always enjoyed playing the competition, but this was just really unexpected. It has been a crazy 24 hours and the news has not quite sunk in yet.
“The new camper van looks amazing. We’re looking forward to some family holidays to places like Switzerland and Northern Ireland.”
The former all-rounder retired from the game in 2018. Having last turned out for his country in 2004, he spent the bulk of his career playing county cricket for Hampshire and has settled in Southampton.
BOTB presenter Christian said: “I was delighted to be able to surprise Sean with this stunning prize. He was clearly in shock and a bit lost for words.
“It is an amazing camper van which you can pretty much drive anywhere. I am sure Sean and his family are going to enjoy some fantastic holidays.”
BOTB hands over the keys to a dream car each week as well as a lifestyle prize. The company was founded by William Hindmarch in 1999 and has given away more than £53m-worth of cars so far.
