UK: Benjani Mwaruwari Jr recalled and moves clubs again

BENJANI Mwaruwari Jr has departed semi-professional club Dorchester Town, the Magpies confirmed recently.

Striker Benjani recalled by parent club Yeovil Town and loaned out to Melksham Town.

Benjani joined Dorchester Town at the start of the season on loan from Yeovil.

However, the promising striker, son of former Manchester City, Portsmouth and Zimbabwe striker Benjani Mwaruwari, had lately found game time limited at the Avenue.

He was restricted to eight appearances in Dorchester colours, without scoring, following his loan from Yeovil Town.

Benjani, 18, now drops down to Step 4 level with Wiltshire club Melksham, who reside in 14th in Southern League Division One South.

“Yeovil Town can confirm that Benjani Jr has joined Melksham Town on loan following a recall from Dorchester Town,” Dorchester said in a statement.

“We would like to thank Benji for all of his efforts during his time with us this season and we wish him all the best for the future.”

For their part, Yeovil added; “The young striker has been recalled from his spell with The Magpies and has now joined Melksham Town on loan.

“We would like to thank Benji for all of his efforts during his time with us this season and we wish him all the best for the future.”

Benjani Jr has been following on his father’s footsteps and hoping to make a name for himself in his own right.

His father, Benjani Sr was one of the cult heroes of the 2000s Premier League era and no doubt earned his “streets won’t forget” status.

Fans of both Manchester City and Portsmouth remember the striker fondly for his iconic celebration which saw him point dramatically to each corner of the crowd before waving his arm from side to side.

The youngster had been a member of Manchester City’s academy since his father’s days, but was not offered a scholarship by City and subsequently joined Yeovil’s youth ranks.
