SOUTH AFRICA: A Zimbabwean star, who is in high demand, has seemingly attracted interest from DStv Premiership side SuperSport United.

According to Zimbabwean media, Warriors goalkeeper Donovan Bernard looks set to join the Gavin Hunt’s side in the January transfer window.

Matsatsantsa is searching for a goalkeeper following the passing of George Chigova and the departure of Boalefa Pule, who has since joined Motsepe Foundation Championship club Baroka FC.

Interestingly, the in-demand shot-stopper recently signed a two-year deal extension with Bulawayo-based Chicken Inn.

Bernard won Chicken Inn’s Player of the Season award for the 2021/22 campaign.

According to the Zimpapers Sports, the goalkeeper’s agent Gibson Mahachi has already confirmed there are talks currently taking place between them and the South African club.

“Yes there are inquiries but at the moment, everything is premature, in the meantime, I can confirm that we extended his contract with Chicken Inn after it lapsed at the end of last season,” Mahachi told Zimpapers Sports.

“We have had some inquiries about him from the South African Premiership club SuperSport United but we are still to come to a tangible conclusion.

“We are hopeful that everything will go well and we will get a positive response.”

Amatsatsantsa currently has Bafana Bafana international Ricardo Goss, Zimbabwean Washington Arubi, and third-choice Samukelo Xulu as goalkeepers.
