Mnangagwa shakes up Zanu PF’s politburo, gives legal brief to 2030 agitant

By Political Correspondent

ZANU PF leader, Emmerson Mnangagwa, rang changes to the ruling party’s politburo Tuesday, giving key briefs to top allies as his succession row escalates.

The changes followed last week’s politburo meeting where vice president Constantino Chiwenga reportedly presented a dossier accusing pro-Mnangagwa tycoons of corruption and calling for their arrest.

According to a statement issued by party spokesperson, Christopher Mutsvangwa, Obert Mpofu was replaced as secretary general by parliament speaker Jacob Mudenda.

Significantly too, justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi was assigned the legal brief, taking over from Partick Chinamasa who becomes party treasurer general.

Ziyambi is a key proponent of the agenda to implement a party resolution to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s rule beyond his 2028 second term constitutional limit to 2030.

Allies of vice president Chiwenga oppose the resolution although the former defence forces chief has not publicly pronounced his position on the issue.

  • This political reshuffle seems like a power move by Mnangagwa to consolidate support as his succession battle heats up. Interesting to see key allies being moved around, especially Ziyambis new role.

  • Haha, looks like President Mnangagwa is really shaking things up in ZANU-PF! Replacing the Secretary General and shuffling ministers like chess pieces. Does this mean Obert Mpofu finally gets to stop being Dr? And Ziyambi getting the legal brief to push for Mnangagwa past 2030 – talk about a high-stakes legal battle! 😄 Guess Chiwenga’s dossier on corruption caused quite the stir. Now we wait to see if this reshuffle is a masterstroke or just a game of musical chairs before the next move! 🎶👥 #ZANUPF#Politics

  • Haha, looks like Zimbabwes politburo is doing some serious shuffling! Who knew a succession row could lead to so many swaps? Now Mnangagwa has Jacob Mudenda as his new BFF, and poor Obert Mpofu is out. I wonder if they’re playing musical chairs or just really dislike each other’s policies. What a circus! 🎪🇿🇼
