HARARE DERBY: Dynamos face Caps as PSL returns to capital

By Sports Reporter

THE return of football in Harare will be celebrated on a spectacular scale as old foes, Dynamos and CAPS United, renew their rivalry.

Having been starved of local football since July, Harare fans will have a front row seat of the blockbuster encounter.

This year the Harare Derby recorded unwanted history of being played away from the capital after local grounds were deemed unfit to host Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches.

It needed a plea from Dynamos – who will host Sunday’s encounter – for the match to be slated for National Sports Stadium after violence reared its ugly head in Bulawayo two weeks ago.

DeMbare will be looking to bounce back to winning ways and get their title challenge back on track after a defeat to Bulawayo Chiefs last week.

The Glamour boys are in the title matrix albeit sitting in fifth position with a pending decision over its abandoned match against Highlanders.

Addressing the media on Thursday, Dynamos coach Genesis Mangombe said he was relishing the prospect of playing in Harare again.

“It’s always good to play at home. We were playing our home matches in Bulawayo which is far away from home,” he said.

“People in Harare have waited a long time to see their team and the type of football we are now playing.

“We will try our best to make sure that everyone is happy on Sunday.”

He added; “We have been doing well in Bulawayo and we should thank the fans there. We will really miss them.”

Dynamos will welcome back midfielder Tanaka Shandirwa who missed their encounter against Bulawayo Chiefs last week.

Shandirwa and Mudadi were instrumental in the reverse fixture that wounded Makepekepe at home.

On the other hand, CAPS United are aiming at registering their first victory in eight matches.

The Green Machine are closer to relegation than the title race after a poor spell of games in the second half of the season.

In other matches, FC Platinum will be aiming to atone for a defeat they suffered at the hands of Herentals when the two collide in Zvishavane on Saturday.
