The 30-year-old only joined Medeama a few weeks ago after being forced out for the 2022/23 season due to a court case relating to his son.

Mahachi last played competitive football in mid-February 2022 while with SuperSport who then suspended him in May – subject to judicial processes – after allegations of child abuse and attempted murder against him surfaced.

The left-footer was then acquitted after the State failed to prove essential elements of the case with evidence given by witnesses disjointed and contradictory.

By then his contract at SuperSport had not been renewed upon its expiry at the end of June 2022.

Over a year later Mahachi – who has played for Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Golden Arrows, and SuperSport through his time in the PSL – is seeking to revive his career in Ghana where he will also play Champions League football.

The group stages draw for the competition will be conducted in Johannesburg on Friday.

Medeama will be in Pot 4 along with Etoile du Sahel, Jwaneng Galaxy, and FC Nouadhibou and face the possibility of coming up against Sundowns who are in Pot 1.

Pot 1 – Al Ahly, Wydad Casablanca, Esperance de Tunis, and Mamelodi Sundowns

Pot 2 – CR Belouizdad, Pyramids, Simba SC, and Petro de Luanda
Pot 3 – TP Mazembe, Al Hilal, ASEC Mimosas, and Young Africans
Pot 4 – Etoile du Sahel, Jwaneng Galaxy, FC Nouadhibou, and Medeama SC
