FC Platinum bite dust as rivals Ngezi strengthen title bid
By Sports Reporter
NGEZI Platinum Stars have put a marker on the title race after defeating Chicken Inn in Mhondoro on Saturday.
Stars put the previous week’s setback behind to beat Chicken Inn in a highly tactical game.
The encounter was key for Stars’ title hopes which appeared to have been dented by FC Platinum in Zvishavane.
However, FC Platinum’s defeat in the hands of relegation-threatened ZPC Kariba also boosted Ngezi Platinum’s title chances.
Norman Mapeza’s charges failed to replicate last weekend’s form as they blew a 1-nil lead, eventually losing 2-1.
The win is a boost to ZPC Kariba’s chances of surviving the chop as they moved three points from the relegation matrix with 33.
On Sunday, Rodwell Chinyengetere’s goal was enough for CAPS United to edge Sheesham, completing a double over the Gweru side.
The Green machine continue their resurgence as they disentangle themselves from the relegation quagmire.
Victory appears to be eluding Highlanders who failed to get past basement side Cranborne Bullets in Bulawayo.
Bosso’s winless run in the past three matches continues as the league reaches the tail end.
