CANADA: In a mission to ensure that all children have access to education and sports, a Swift Current resident is taking action and making a difference.

Collin Nyabadza wrote his book All for the Children to share his decades-long journey of working with youth around the globe. Now, proceeds from sales of his story are going right back into enriching the lives of kids in rural Zimbabwe.

“Kids over there are not as fortunate as our own kids here in Canada and other developed countries,” he said. “You find that the majority, especially the rural based, don’t have basic stuff like classrooms, classroom furniture, sports equipment, even basic things like soccer uniforms and soccer balls.”

The educational assistant started The Collin Nyabadza Children’s Voice Charitable Trust in 2012, which works to support academics and sports in his homeland.

Copies of All for the Children can be purchased on Amazon, 100 per cent of proceeds going to the cause, with the first plan of action being to ship out soccer jerseys.

When asked about why he’s passionate about the younger generation and how it feels to be an advocate for them, he said, “It’s a journey that I’ve travelled.

“And you just see the impact,” he added. “Every dollar counts. Sometimes people fail to help because they think if I give five dollars, what is it going to do? But at the end of the day, you find that every single dollar makes a very big difference.

“Now, as I’m speaking, every container full of soccer uniforms, which are just waiting to be shipped to Zimbabwe, so every dollar makes a very big difference, and it makes me feel so happy.”
