Battle of Cousins as FC Platinum hosts Ngezi Platinum
By Sports Reporter
Resurgent defending champions FC Platinum will host cousins Ngezi Platinum on Saturday in a potentially explosive league encounter in Zvishavane.
FC Platinum, who appear to have rediscovered their form at the right time, will be aiming to throw spanners in the works for league leaders Ngezi Platinum.
The match, which carries a weight of rivalry, is significant in the title fight for the Ngezi-based side who lead the pack with 51 points.
The Takesure Chiragwi side, are eight points ahead of FC Platinum who occupy the third spot on the table.
Both teams are buoyed by victories in their last games and will be aiming to continue on the purple patch as the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League reaches fever pitch.
Ngezi Platinum are aiming to clinch their maiden championship since their promotion to the top flight in 2016.
Meanwhile in Mhondoro, it will be a meeting of wounded animals as Simba Bhora hosts Highlanders.
Simba were beaten by Cranborne Bullets in the midweek while Highlanders drew against Sheasham in a come-from-behind stalemate.
Bosso have lost their touch in recent matches, sliding to second spot after going for 19 games without tasting defeat.
Simba are in 11th spot on the league table, a flattering position but just two points from the relegation zone and will be looking to avoid the dreaded chop.
Elsewhere, troubled CAPS United travel to the Colliery Stadium to face Hwange in a tricky encounter.
The colliery has lately become a slaughtering zone with Hwange beating visitors in recent matches.
United are on a winless run in the league and will draw confidence from its win against Highlanders last week in the Chibuku Super Cup.
