Ailing CAPS United face Bosso in Chibuku Super Cup
By Sports Reporter
EMBATTLED giants CAPS United will this weekend shift focus from their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League struggles to the Chibuku Super Cup crunch encounter against Highlanders.
United, who have stretched their winless run to nine matches in the PSL, have an opportunity of ending the year with a silverware after a disappointing season.
But they have to negotiate a tough challenge in Bulawayo to progress to the next round of the Chibuku Super Cup.
However, without the services of goal scoring machine William Manondo, CAPS face a wounded Highlanders who were beaten last week by Hwange at Colliery Stadium.
Manondo is absent from Makepekepe due to national team commitments in Botswana.
Highlanders are also without Peter Mudhuwa, coach Blatemar Brito who are also with the national team for a game against Botswana on Saturday.
The two giants, smarting from defeats last week, are meeting for the first time in Chibuku Super Cup since its reintroduction in 2016.
Meanwhile, FC Platinum will date Dynamos in Zvishavane in another high profile Chibuku Super Cup encounter.
Dynamos travel to Zvishavane with a spring in their step after narrowly beating CAPS United last week.
However DeMbare will have to do without the services of key midfielders, Tanaka Shandirwa, Donald Mudadi and its coach Genesis Mangombe who are with Zimbabwe national team.
DeMbare had tried unsuccessfully to postpone the encounter due to the unavailability of its key players.
FC Platinum are also missing Brian Banda and Walter Musona who are also among the contingent of Warriors.
