Unbeaten Bosso target Barbourfields diamonds heist

Having maintained a stellar performance with 15 games unbeaten, Highlanders march into their fortress Barbourfields Stadium this afternoon with their heads raised high as they face the ‘Gem Boys’ Manica Diamonds who will be hoping to break the ‘Tshilamoya’ winning streak.

Ruling the roost, ‘Amahlolanyama’ as they are affectionately known by their fans, go into Match Day 16 with high hopes of maintaining their unbeaten run against third-placed tacticians who are also riding high on a four match winning spell.

Former Highlanders right back, Lawson Nkomo, said the ‘Black and White Army’ would dismantle the diamond miners.

“The team is in good form and we are very much hopeful that Diamonds will regret coming to the City of Kings! We trust the coach and a win it is for the boys this afternoon,” Nkomo said.

Bulawayo, ‘KoNtuthu Ziyathunqa’, was Sunday morning already abuzz with kombis honking, Highlanders flags and jerseys donned by enthusiastic fans chanting Bosso slogans. Fans who spoke to this publication expressed mixed feelings.

“Manica Diamonds has outstanding strikers and a tactful coach and strategist but we have strong trust in our captain who has maintained 11 clean sheets in all 15 games and, given the fact that we are playing ‘Emagumeni’, the support will carry the boys through,” said one fan.

“We will be there at Barbourfields as the twelfth man rallying behind the boys. IBosso ngenkani! Said the excited fan.

On their last meeting in July 2022, Highlanders thwarted the Gem Boys 3-0.

Bosso are sitting at the top of the league table with 31 points while Manica Diamonds are in third place with 26 points. The match kicks off at 15:00 CAT

Meanwhile, in other games, Hwange host FC Platinum while Simba Bhora take on Kariba.
