After touring the globe for over four decades, one of Africa’s most celebrated vocal and dance ensembles is bringing their signature energy to Hamilton.

Black Umfolosi International, the world-renowned a cappella group from Zimbabwe, hits The Westdale stage for a night of song, dance, and culture on November 13th.

Famous for their stunning harmonies, vibrant traditional dance, and colourful attire, Black Umfolosi International delivers a performance that’s joyful and uplifting.

Enthusiasts can expect powerful a cappella harmonies sung in southern African languages paired with non-stop high-energy dancing and a stage presence that will have the whole room on its feet.

One of the highlights of any BUI performance is their famous gumboot dance, a tradition which originated in the mines of southern Africa. Dancers perform bare-chested wearing hard hats and long gumboots as they execute incredible feats of dance and percussion.

Black Umfolosi International has toured across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, and has performed hundreds of times across Canada.

Their signature imbube singing style—blending traditional Zulu harmonies with modern flair—has earned them a reputation as cultural ambassadors with a contagious joy that transcends language.

Audiences around the world have been moved by Black Umfolosi’s powerful performances.

At their show in Melkweg Amsterdam, one attendee described it as “music that touches the heart,” while another in the United Kingdom said the group “brought the whole house up, onto their feet.”
