‘HONOUR HER’ ‘It’s our opportunity to give back’ – Family’s plea for woman who died in Ireland to have body brought back to Zimbabwe
By The Irish Sun
A FAMILY has issued an urgent plea to help get their loved one’s body sent from Ireland to her home in Zimbabwe.
Pamela Choto moved to Ireland in October year with her son.
However, shortly after Pamela began working here, she received a shock cancer diagnosis.
Her family have set up a GoFundMe to ask the public for their help.
They explained the process is “emotionally taxing” and also comes with significant financial burdens.
Pamela’s family, who supported her through her cancer battle, now face repatriation costs, travel expenses and funeral costs.
Relatives said Pamela was a “loving and hardworking wife, mother, friend, daughter and sister”.
The GoFundMe fundraiser so far has reached €4,000 of a €10,000 goal.
It reads: “It is with a heavy heart that we lost this beautiful soul on Friday 9 August and are asking for help from the bottom of our hearts to take her home.
“It hasn’t been an easy journey as most finances we had went to supporting her during the time of her illness.
“May you find it in your hearts to assist us to take Pamela back home, no amount is too little, we appreciate all of you.
“As we mourn her passing, we are also faced with the challenging task of repatriating Pamela’s body to her homeland, Zimbabwe, where her family wishes to lay her to rest.
“This process is not only emotionally taxing but also comes with significant financial burdens.
“The costs associated with repatriation, including transportation, funeral arrangements, and other related expenses, are considerable.”
The family told how the GoFundMe page is to help ensure her family “can honour her memory in the way she deserves”.
It continued: “Pamela touched many lives, and this is our opportunity to give back and support her family in their time of need.
“If you are unable to donate, we kindly ask that you share this campaign with others who might be able to assist.
“Thank you for your compassion and support during this difficult time.
“Together, we can help bring Pamela home and provide her family with the comfort and closure they need.”
