OUSTED Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) chief executive Adelaide Chikunguru has claimed that information minister Jenfan Muswere made advances at her which she spurned and further claimed she had been the target of assassination attempts.

In a post on her LinkedIn page, Chikunguru gave her side of the story after media reports at the weekend revealed reasons for her suspension after which she voluntarily resigned.

Chikunguru had a frosty relationship with Muswere who took over the information minister from Monica Mutsvangwa after the last general elections.

She reportedly wrote to the Chief Secretary to President and Cabinet, accusing the new minister of professional harassment.

And in her LinkedIn post, Chikunguru claimed to have spurned the Muswere’s advances while he was ICTs minister.

Reads the post, “ … on 27 September 2021 at Chimanimani World Radio Day when Minister Muswere was Minister of ICT he made advances to me via WhatsApp which I have, I turned him down! He continued to pester me until he stopped as I was not interested in him!”

She also claimed to have been the target of assassination attempts.

“My life is at risk. On 16 June I was involved in an accident with security personnel this was after my appointment,” wrote Chikunguru.

“Further, going to the ZANU PF conference in Bindura, my wheels had been tempered with and locknuts removed.

“There are audios where she is heard that if she can’t remove me then she will have to exterminate me as she is under instruction from the principal!”

Chikunguru also denied the slew allegations against her including the use of ZBC funds to “purchase” awards, abuse of Corporation finances.
